About

The Story of Befana: The Italian Santa Claus

Italy is a historically Catholic culture with many holidays, traditions and beliefs coming from biblical and religious roots. They celebrate many more national holidays from the Christian religion than some other countries and therefore have more traditions for the holidays.

Befana is a folklore tradition attached to a January holiday, but has some unusual characteristics that go along with it.

In this class you will be able to learn about this amazing festivity and immerse yourself  a little bit more in the culture.

Objective:

Expanding your cultural knowledge and discuss a love-hearted Italian tradition.

Who should attend:

This event is appropriate for all levels; however, a basic level of conversational Italian is encouraged!

Ground rules:

Classes are a great opportunity to practice in a relaxed space, make mistakes, and have fun together. Cameras should be turned ON during the class. We're all here to support each other, so please be respectful, and approach conversations with an open mind and positive attitude. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
